Fit and safety
A headcollar should allow two or three fingers' width at the noseband and cheek, sitting comfortably without rubbing. Some owners choose a headcollar with a breakable safety section for turnout, so it releases if caught.
Leather or nylon?
Padded leather is smart, comfortable and ages well, making it popular for showing and travelling. Nylon is hard-wearing, washable and good value for everyday yard use.
